Tokaido undoubtably has the qualities of a gateway game but its elegant simplicity is a little deceptive. You will loose if against an experienced player on say BGA if you simply jump to the next empty spot. The characters starting with the most coins are not the ones that you have the highest chance of winning with, I’ll let you eventually figure that out. I have the New Encounters promo you refer to - Itamae, who allows you to buy a meal card (and get 6 points) for only one coin is over powered. Crossroads really changes the game, in a way I’m sure you’ll like, but in some ways it detracts from the experience of playing the base game.↧
