What follows is the text of the post:

Alright! Another month has ended and another great month of gaming was had! We didn’t get a ton of plays in but we were still able to hit 45 for the month and they were all great! We continued to get some plays in from our 2017 10x10 challenge as well as getting some new games in. Here’s where we are on our 10x10 challenge thus far.

As you can see we are starting to make a dent in the challenge and I can’t wait to start Gloomhaven and also Too Many Bones when it arrives. We’ve actually received Unfair in March and gotten a few plays of it in so I look forward to next month to see where we’re at. Until then, here are our stats for the month of February.

Last play before February 2017 – 1/26/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 7

Em and I were able to get in a bunch of plays of this fun, quick card game this past month during some of our breakfast dates. This is just a quick and simple game that is fun to pull out when we are out for coffee or dinner while we’re waiting and talking. It is a solid filler game.

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game: Rise of the Runelords

Designer – Mike Selinker/Chad Brown/Tanis O’Connor/Paul Peterson/Gaby Weidling
Publisher – Paizo Publishing
Last play before February 2017 – 11/28/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 7

I got some solo plays in of this great adventure card game. I’ve taken on the roles of Merisiel the rogue elf and Kyra the cleric human. This is one of mine and Em’s most played games as we’ve always enjoyed the card and dice play. We are almost done with the Rise of the Runelords box and will move on to Skull & Shackles when we’re done.

Fabled Fruit

Designer – Friedemann Friese
Publisher – Stronghold Games
Last play before February 2017 – 1/28/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 4

Em and I were able to finish up the deck of cards for Fabled Fruit and thusly finish up our first whole playthrough of the game. We had a blast with this game and our next playthrough will most likely be with Molly and Dustin and we can’t wait.

Pandemic Iberia

Designer – Jesús Torres Castro/Matt Leacock
Publisher – Z-Man Games
New to me
First play – 2/20/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 3

Em and I were able to find a great deal on this game and decided to pick it up while we were in a game store in Fort Wayne. We proceeded to play and loved the experience! I think this is an even better version of the original Pandemic which adds some new ideas to the beloved format. This is a great version and I’d highly recommend it.

Red7

Publisher – Asmadi Games
Last play before February 2017 – 9/14/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 3

Em and I picked up this wonderful, short, filler card game and we had a blast with it. This is one of our most played games as we’re able to pick it up quickly and it takes a very short period of time to play. This is just one of a line of many clever card games from Asmadi Games.

Ticket to Ride

Designer – Alan R. Moon
Publisher – Days of Wonder
Last play before February 2017 – 1/22/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 3

We picked up the Heart of Africa map expansion and were able to play it a couple of times in February. This has moved into both of our top 10 lists and we are looking to pick up any expansion we can get our hands on for this great gateway/family game!

Mint Works

Designer – Justin Blaske
Publisher – Five24 Labs
New to me
First play – 2/16/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 2

Our buddy Josh Kickstarted this small worker placement game and picked up a copy of it for us. It is a super small game that actually fits in an Altoid-sized tin and is quite a fun game! It is a simple, worker-placement style game but has some fun decisions.

SeaFall

Designer – Rob Daviau
Publisher – Plaid Hat Games
Last play before February 2017 – 1/29/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 2

This past month we got 2 more plays in of this Legacy style game. We are getting pretty far into the campaign and I expect we’ll be done in the next month or two. We are still enjoying the game and always get a kick out of what we’ll do next.

7 Wonders: Duel (w/ Pantheon)

Designer – Antoine Bauza/Bruno Cathala
Publisher – Repos Production/Asmodee
Last play before February 2017 – 11/14/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

Em and I got in a play of this fantastic 2-player version of its big brother along with the Pantheon expansion and it was a great game! I was barely able to win in the last round with a scientific victory! I love this game and don’t see it going down any time soon.

Ashes: Rise of the Phoenixborn

Designer – Isaac Vega
Publisher – Plaid Hat Games
Last play before February 2017 – 10/2/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

Em and I finally got in another play of this fantastic dueling card and dice game and it was a fantastic round. Em tried out the Victoria Glassfire deck but wasn’t a huge fan of it on her first play while I took the Brennen deck and was able to pull out the victory.

Cottage Garden

Designer – Uwe Rosenberg
Publisher – Edition Spielwiese
Last play before February 2017 – 12/28/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

We pulled out this game and got our first play of it in the New Year and got the first play for our 10x10 challenge. This is a fun game that is super simple to play and just very relaxing to play while it is going on.

A Feast for Odin

Designer – Uwe Rosenberg
Publisher – Z-Man Games
Last play before February 2017 – 1/2/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

I got around to teaching Em this fantastic worker placement and tile laying game from the incredible Rosenberg and she really dug it! She was able to find a good strategy and pull out the win in her first play of the game!

Five Tribes

Designer – Bruno Cathala
Publisher – Days of Wonder
Last play before February 2017 – 1/16/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

Another month and another fun play of this Mancala-style game. I absolutely love this game and could see it moving further up my list with more plays. Em hasn’t pulled off a win in this one yet but she’s been really close more than once!

La Granja: No Siesta

Designer – Andreas Odendahl
Publisher – Stronghold Games
Last play before February 2017 – 1/12/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

Em and I were able to get out on a couple of breakfast dates in February and we brought this game along on one of them. Em had a really good strategy rolling for this play and was able to outscore me in the end!

Mottainai

Designer – Carl Chudyk
Publisher – Asmadi Games
Last play before February 2017 – 7/3/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

I can’t believe it had been about 7 months in between plays of this incredible card game! I love everything about this game and it had just been way too long since we got a play in of it. Finally we brought it to a breakfast date and Em edged me out by two points with her sales winning her the day!

oddball äeronauts

Designer – Nigel Pyne
Publisher – maverick muse
New to me
First play – 2/25/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

I got this game for my birthday and Em and I played it on a date night where we went out for the evening. I love that you can hold the decks in your hand and don’t even need a table. It is a super quick, fun, trick-taking style game where the art is absolutely incredible! After just one play I’m interested in finding the expansion which has two new faction decks and more mercenaries.

One Deck Dungeon

Designer – Chris Cieslik
Publisher – Asmadi Games
New to me
First play – 2/25/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

Here is another game that I received as a gift for my birthday. This is a rogue-like card and dice game where you play a character delving into a dungeon and traversing through it in order to defeating the big boss monster at the end of the run. This is a very fun game…we really enjoyed it.

Patchwork

Designer – Uwe Rosenberg
Publisher – Lookout Games/Mayfair Games
Last play before February 2017 – 10/27/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

We pulled this game out during a breakfast date and had a really good round. Em ended up doing a lot of coverage on her board while I had a ton of button income throughout the game. She ended up edging me out in the end as my buttons weren’t quite enough to overcome the amount of negative points I had to take. We still adore this game and this was our 40th play of it!

Port Royal

Designer – Alexander Pfister
Publisher – Pegasus Spiele
New to me
First play – 2/25/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

This was another small game that was given to me for my birthday and I already really dig it! This game is a pretty simple push-your-luck and set-collection game by the great Alexander Pfister. By this point I feel like he can basically do no wrong when it comes to game design! This game is a perfect, light card game that we’d be able to pull out and teach anyone in just a couple of minutes.

Quests of Valeria

Designer – Isaias Vallejo
Publisher – Daily Magic Games
New to me
First play – 2/23/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

This Kickstarter was delivered (on time!) in February and we were able to get it to the table before the end of the month. It is another solid, quick, and easy to teach game from Vallejo and Daily Magic Games. I am really enjoying their stuff and look forward to anything that they release.

Taste of Poland

Designer – Marcin Senior Ropka/Viola Kijowska
Publisher – Bomba Games
Last play before February 2017 – 4/20/16
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

We pulled out Taste of Poland this past month and had a fun round of the game. I quite enjoy a quick play of this now and then as it is one of the only “speed” based games that we have. Plus, as a bonus, the artwork is great and makes us super hungry when we’re done!

Würfel Bohnanza

Designer – Uwe Rosenberg
Publisher – AMIGO Spiele
Last play before February 2017 – 1/29/17
Total plays in February 2017 – 1

We played a quick game of this awesome dice-rolling game this past month and I was able to defeat Em in it. This is another of those games that we can carry around anywhere and play whenever we have a little bit of time.

New game acquisitions in February 2017:
Gloomhaven
Mint Works
oddball äeronauts
One Deck Dungeon
Pandemic Iberia
Port Royal
Quests of Valeria

New expansion acquisitions in February 2017:
Five Tribes: The Thieves of Naqala

And there you have it everyone…another great month of gaming! I got a bunch of stuff for my birthday that we were able to learn and they are all very fun! I have a few Kickstarters and other pre-orders coming in during the next couple of months and am looking forward to them…they should be great! Well, that’s all for now (although you’ll probably get March’s update soonish!). As always, thanks so much for reading! Until next time, game on!
