You've got your reasons why you don't do that - nothing wrong with that, it's your choice. It's a little aspirational for my tastes, and doesn't seem commensurate with the risks, but hey whatever floats your boat.
I don't think your personal perspective is a good argument to set aside the criticism that these publishers should be considering a more backer-friendly approach to structuring their kickstarter campaigns though. Which is where I think this tangent started.
