Now, I like any mini's to the next person (well, unless they're into WH40k) but I soon realised that there wasn't much point getting that many mini's for a....what?....4 player game? Or am I missing a trick here (yes, it plays 5 Stew:whistle:)and there actually is an untapped market for 'supercute':yuk: mini's hidden deep deep underground....

Well, Tokaido *is* the only painted mini's KS right now, and I haven't seen painted mini's in a KS in quite awhile. $115 for 32 painted minis plus metal coins is *still* quite a deal, even without the unpainted mini's.

Also, Tokaido is still a Eurogame. Are there any other high-profile Euros on KS right now? This March, we're going to have *plenty* of unpainted mini's: Super Dungeon Explore and Arcadia Quest (chibis), Dwarven Forge (cavern game tiles), and Dreadball (sf football). Strangely, we have no zombies, cthulhu, steampunk, pirates, or zombie Cthulhu steampunk zombies, for that matter. SDE and DF haven't started yet, but SDE and AQ are projected to 750K each, same as Tokaiko.

The last KS with painted mini's I saw was Dawn of the Occulites. AFAIK, The $150 Tribe level got you 28 painted mini's and, while cute, were on the niche side: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2002188924/dawn-rise-of... BGG favorite Xia had prepainted ships, along with a ton of other components, $75 with 15 prepainted ships.

The prepainted mini's market is pretty popular, but anything beyond HeroClix and D&D mini's doesn't exist, at least at prices boardgamers are willing to pay. Tokaido looks to be an attractive exception.
