Interestingly, Queen Games ended up doing just that with their Kingdom Builder Big Box campaign - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1016374822/kingdom-buil... - adding the $300 (3 copies, including shipping) and $540 (6 copies, including shipping) levels. Before that, shipping cost alone was going to be $60 - even for a single copy of the game!
However, so far only two people have pledged at those levels! (I'm one of them. I organized one six-pack group and I'm working on another.)
